36 weeks today!

Today I am 36 weeks! I had a doctors appt on Monday and I am still 2.5 centimeters dilated and now 80% effaced. Hearing numbers like those make me think that I am going to go into labor tomorrow, but then the doc says "see you next week" and reassures me to not pay attention to those numbers.

And for good reason. I still have one baptism to attend and one birthday party to throw!!

We finally switched the cribs into the correct bedrooms and Alyssa did great with her new crib. I thought she might have a little uneasiness being that it was a different crib, but she didn't at all. I am so glad for that.

I have to brag a little about Alyssa. My little girl can count to 11!! I can't believe it. When we walk down the stairs, she will count each step. And I swear we were looking at her play phone and I pointed out a couple numbers and she told me what numbers they were. I am still shocked and I can't get her to do that again, but I swear she did it the one time. Now please tell me why she still needs speech therapy??? She has been saying all kinds of words lately and has been repeating things we say, but the therapist thinks she should be putting two and three words together. She must think she is behind enough to bump up her monthly visit to two times a month. I think she is crazy, but she has a degree and we are getting it free through early intervention, so I am not complaining. I just think she is a smart cookie and I probably wouldn't have thought anything of her speech if we weren't going to early intervention for the physical therapy (which she doesn't need anymore and the therapist will evaluate her, but every time she says Alyssa is doing perfectly for her age...well except for her kicking a ball - insert eye roll here).

My stepmom finally gave me the money for the double stroller. I have to admit, I was getting a little worried, since she said that she would given us the money weeks ago. So, I ordered it and it should be here soon...yay!!

I have been going crazy ordering things online. I ordered Alyssa a big sister T-shirt with her name on it. I ordered curtains for Morgan's room, Easter baskets with names embroidered, and shelves for Alyssa's bedroom. I never bought anything online before (well except for Alyssa's book club) and I have to admit it is awesome!! I am thinking about ordering a flower clock for Morgan's room with her name on it too. It is too much fun to come home and see something on your doorstep! It's like Christmas...LOL!

So, I guess that is my weekly update. No one will know if I have the baby or not, since lately I have been such an infrequent poster...LOL!

Now how old is Alyssa?? Cause Zach is only 21 months and he is saying individual words, but he isn't putting 2 or 3 words together yet. Well except the recent "No Mama!" but that's it. He says all the normal words like mama, dadda, nani (which is his version of sister) baby, spongebob, you know, simple words. I think at this age, speech therapy is stupid only because they are still learning. It's not like she has learned this stuff and having difficulties, she hasn't even learned how to say the words yet. Give her some time. I was gonna say if you had to pay for the therapy to quit taking her (sounds like they are just trying to get some free money from your insurance). It's not worth it. But if it's free for you and it's not hurting her in any way and she enjoys it, then heck why not. But I say give her some time. All my kids were slower in all their things (walking, sitting up, talking etc according to docs anyways) so I have learned to be patient and let the kids go at their own pace and screw what the docs say they "should" be doing at a specific age!! I say Congrats that she is counting, that's awesome. Zach will count to 3!! But I don't think he could pick out the numbers if I showed them to him. lol Also good for the double stroller, they are a pain and heavy, but so convenient!! And I hope you get to your baptism before you pop!! lol Sorry for the book!!

Alyssa is almost 23 months old.

I really never would have even thought of a problem with her speech, it is just what the speech therapist is saying to me. And the only reason she was evaluated by a speech therapist was because we were going for PT. (She was really late in her gross motor skills).

I could bet money if I were to tell her ped what she is saying, she would think she is right on track.

I will know better next time that kids develop at their own timeline. I just remember getting so nervous when she wasn't even rolling over at 8 months old.

All my kids have been the same way. Both Olivia and Zachary didn't start walking till about 15 or 16 months, and Zachary started sitting up on his own when he was 11 months. I was also very worried about all that with Olivia because she was my first but after seeing Zachary do the same thing, I figured it's not anything abnormal, just the way they are. Kid #2 is always the easier one because you know what to expect and aren't as surprised about everything!!

If you'd like I'll look through all my child language acquisition texts to see what the linguists say they should be doing at Alyssa's age. I have to admit to not remembering anything from when I was in school since my specialty is post puberty.
Sounds like you've been busy! I'm so excited for you.

Never really shopped online? how do you live without getting packages on your doorstep? I love it. Just like christmas, even though i paid for the stuff myself.
