Monday's Moments
Today, Alyssa said her first official sentence.
I asked her this morning if she pooped and she looked at Gary and said "Daddy, I pooped".
So I am happy for three reasons. One, that she finally put words together that we actually understood. Two, that she asked Gary to change her diaper and not me. And three, that she knew that she had went to the bathroom in her pants. We always thought she didn't even know when she went. So, maybe she will be potty trained before she is five! Woo Hoo!!
Today we also went to her speech therapy "toddler time" session. Of course, I boasted to the therapist that she said a sentence this morning. She seemed happy. She proceeded to tell me that we are really focusing on Alyssa's listening skills and the ability to be able to complete one task before moving to another and participate in group activities.
Normally, I think I would have been somewhat offended. The reason being is because I thought that we were there for speech therapy and Alyssa is making amazing strides in her vocabulary and speech and then for the therapist to focus on what Alyssa needs to work on could have rubbed me the wrong way, but it didn't!!
I am actually loving the class that Alyssa is involved with now. To me it seems somewhat like an early preschool program. They do art projects and sing in circle time and then today they got to go outside for a little recess time. I really think it is cute what they do there. I don't know why it took me so long to see that. She has only recently been involved with the "toddler time", but I think she is really getting the hang of what it expected of her there. She still had two small tantrums when she wanted to do something else, but overall that is wonderful compared to the fit she would throw the entire time when we first started this program.
So, maybe it was my pregnancy hormones mixed in with "there's nothing wrong with my kid" attitude that made me think she really didn't need to be there. But, now I am impressed with the program and even if I don't think she "needs" to be there, it is wonderful that she can still be involved with a program like that and I know she will learn from it no matter at what level she is at with her speech skills.

That's great Linda! It sounds like your daughter really likes toddler time. They LOVE routine and she is learning the ropes of the class. I think it is great to have them in classes like that at that age...they learn so much!
Yay! Go Alyssa!!! That's great! She'll be talking and stuff in no time!
Yeah for Alyssa! I am so happy she said her first sentence. I am also proud of you momma for accepting the toddler time class and enjoying it as well. Alyssa is such a cute kid.
That's great!!! I bet she'll be potty trained before you know it!! Now Zachary on the other hand...lol...he tells us all the time when he goes potty "Mama, potty" , but then runs away screaming no when we ask him if he wants to go in the potty. lol. Boys are turning out to be harder then girls for us already!! lol
I am glad to hear Alyssa is now enjoying her class more. It's great watching them having fun and learning new stuff every day!
That's great how Alyssa said a full sentence. My daughter is starting to "talk" a little, which translates into making noises other than crying, and I love it. I can't wait till she can get to the age where she can say a few things.
