Lost in Space...

I guess that's where I've been. So, Choppz...you called me out and I decided that I NEEDED to take time to post.

The munchkins...

Morgan. Adorable, cute, funny, almost 11 months, STILL immobile. Yep, still immobile. At Morgan's 9 month checkup the ped said Morgan was now considered delayed in her gross motor skills and needs to be evaluated for this. In all the months that I worried about Alyssa's every move and milestone, I hadn't flinched a thought about Morgan. I really was enjoying all the "babiness" in her and the fact that she was immobile I was enjoying that too. But, the fact is that she is delayed and now being almost 11 months and still unable to roll or crawl is frustrating the heck outta her. She sees her big sis running around like crazy and she wants to be doing that too. So...we had her evaluated by the same therapists that Alyssa has seen and we are on the waiting list to get into the EI program. I've got to call the service coordinator next week to see how long the wait list is. We may have to seek private therapy for her until we can get in. In the evaluation they said that Morgan has low muscle tone which is exactly what Alyssa had. They also said that it is very common if one child has low muscle tone, for other siblings to also have it too.

She's babbling like crazy though. She actually started to say "Ut-Oh" a couple weeks ago and says it at the right time and everything. It is freakin' adorable. I totally think she is trying to say "kitty" and "duck" too. She says "mama", "dada" and "yah". So, her speech is doing great at this time. But if my memory serves me correctly, Alyssa was doing well with her speech until we started therapy and she started to put all of her focus on gross motor skills. Then, the speech took a back burner and she eventually became delayed in that. Who knows though, Morgan can surprise us and still thrive with her speech too.

Alyssa. Adorable, cute, funny, and almost 3 years old. She is going through some evaluations through our school district to see if she will still qualify for therapy services, since the EI program only runs until 3 years of age. I am highly doubtful that she will qualify, but it was still suggested that I get her evaluated. I agreed because I want to hear that she is completely caught up. And if she isn't then she will start the preschool program (in which we were going to send her to anyway) after her 3rd birthday at the end of March instead of waiting until the fall. Plus, it would be completely paid for. Honestly it would be nice for it to be paid for, but I think I'd rather hear that Alyssa is completely caught up more than that. The only thing I'd be bummed about is she isn't going to have "school" until the fall then. She absolutely loves her therapy classes and how they really treat it like a pre-preschool program. It is awesome and I can't imagine not sending her to pre-school in the fall because I seen how well she has thrived being there.

Other than the kiddos, I don't have much going on for myself. I need to post more about my mom, my friend and my sister, but I have to put Morgan to bed!! Please tell me how to juggle it all because I feel like I don't have time for anything anymore!

Yah, you are alive!!! lol

I hear you on the baby front. Baby Boy just now started sitting up! Yes, he too is on the slow front. He got his 12 month checkup and the ped said he wanted to see him in 6 wks to check on his progress. At that point he wasn't doing much of anything. He was low crawling a bit but not regular crawling or sitting up. Then 4 days later he just started sitting up. Out of the blue. He is still just low crawling, but he can get everywhere very fast. I wouldn't worry about Morgan at all. I think every child grasps things at different levels and she will get it soon enough. All my babies were like Baby Boy. He has been the slowest so far, but I am not worried. The pediatrician did say though that he isn't gaining weight like he should, but dang the boy eats ALL the time. So I just think it's his own thing. He's a healthy, happy baby, so I am not worried.

I just didn't want you to feel like you were the only parent in this type of situation. I am a worry wart too, but have learned that the docs aren't always right. Our babies just want to go on their own schedule!!!

Good to have you back! Oh and juggling it all?? Don't ask me, I am about to pull my hair out! lol

Ditto to what all of what sissy said :) She's very wise, even though she is younger than me...lol.

Don't ask me about juggling either...I only have the 1 kid to chase around :)

Good luck with everything, but as choppzs says, don't listen to everything the doctor has to say. Kids develop differently and they will do it when they are ready to.
